On a hot and humid Sunday evening I met up with this sweet family in Humboldt Park. I’ve always loved Humboldt Park — even though it’s in a neighborhood that has its share of problems, I’ve always thought the park was such a pretty oasis in this big, bustling city. I like to think of it as Chicago’s version of Central Park. I was particularly excited to spend some time in the Formal Gardens, as I had only ever driven past them during the dead of winter. They totally didn’t disappoint

This family completely radiates with love. The littlest man has the most gorgeous blue eyes and the sweetest, curly red hair. His big brother spent most of our session doing this…

…but that’s half the fun of having a family photography session outdoors — for an hour and a half the “rules” can be forgotten and much fun and laughter can be had.

After a solid workout chasing them around, I managed to sneak in a few sweet photos when the little munchkins weren’t paying attention.

And the golden light at the end of the session was pretty much perfection.
